Maybe this is somewhere in the board, but I haven't seen it. Anyway, I think it would be nice to be able to post comments about peoples' written profiles. Also I think it should be possible for the member to be able to accept comments or not.

That sounds like a good idea. But why would someone not want to get comments?

I'll disagree only because that's why a lot of us talk with other zoners. we often start with saying, Wow, Nice profile, or something like that.

I agree with Yanky G wolvereen. that is indeed why a lot of us talk with other zone members.:D

I think that being able to comment on peoples' profiles would:
A. Encourage some to write one, and B. Allow one more competition in to our vibrant, crazy community and that is to have a site statistic of the most profile comments.

I also like this idea. I think it's been suggested before but I can't recall who suggested it, and what really was said about it.

I like the idea of people writing in comments but the profiles are often used to start up conversations like Garret mentioned above, and I feel this would take away from it in some sort of way.

Post 8 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Monday, 11-Aug-2008 18:45:52

Why would that take away from people starting conversations with you? If anything, it would help you to see if they were people you really wanted to talk to. If someone leaves a comment on your profile and they sound cool, you'll be more likely to talk to them, while if they're mean or whatever you already know, which saves you the hassle of having to block people if it comes to that.

I definitely agree with post 8. I think it would certainly help you determine who is worth your timeand friendship, and who is not. It's all just another fun way for us to communicate freely with one another.

Post 10 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Wednesday, 13-Aug-2008 6:08:58

We can comment on audio profiles so why not the text profiles.

Post 11 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Monday, 18-Aug-2008 13:25:26

I also have another suggestion about profiles. Could we have a link to report them, like we do for board posts?

Post 12 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Wednesday, 20-Aug-2008 18:19:05

I agree with post eight.

Post 13 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Monday, 12-Jan-2009 4:38:02

Yeah, I think having the link would be nice. I was also thinking it would be nice for us to be able to keep a record of our comments, and if we change the profile, we can check a box that would reset the comments back to zero if we wanted people to start commenting on the new profile. Thoughts?

Post 14 by SEPTEMBER-TWILIGHT (CAN I TALK? PLEASE?) on Monday, 12-Jan-2009 7:34:12

Wow, I really like this suggestion. It would be nice for people to comment on your profile and stuff. and the whole reset thing is cool too.

I also like the idea of being able to comment on people's written profiles. It can be thru a link that says either "click here to leave a comment", or for the reader "click here to read comments", or something like that. We have them for audio profiles, so yeah. Also there have been times when I really liked someone's written profile but didn't have an opinion on the audio one, but that was all I wanted to let them know. I also agree with some others that it shouldn't take away from getting to know a person. If people believe things about the person based on mostly the comments left about them, to me it would be the same as if that person were being talked about and people just believing that. One would still need to talk to that person themselves to really know what that person is about.

Post 16 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Monday, 12-Jan-2009 23:31:01

Well, I'm glad so many people like it. I was also thinking it would be nice to have say 1000 characters if you're a standard member, and 5000 if you're a premium. This would be the amount of characters people have to post a comment.

Post 17 by Q (Take my advice, I'm not using it anyhow.) on Wednesday, 14-Jan-2009 2:53:11

I like the idea a lot and have suggested it to the rest of the staff.
Having said that, I'm not fond of the idea that premium members would be able to write longer comments, honestly, a bit pointless in my humble opinion.
There might be instances where the comment is longer than the actual text profile.

Post 18 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 14-Jan-2009 11:41:53

I agree with q. I dont think there's really a point in the 5000 character limit for premiums, however I do like this idea. And I think it should kind of be set up like the audio profile thing, but maybe a link can be under "actions, at the bottom of the profile. Something sort of like this:
"Heading Level 6 Actions"
"Link send private message,"
"Link Send Email"
"Link Ignore User"
"Link Leave Comment---"
...something like that, as I dont even know off the top of my head if that's how it's set up! Lol!
Anyway, yes, like the idea!

Post 19 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 14-Jan-2009 11:55:17

Also this will not take away from talking to other zoners, because if you really want to talk to them, you can still talk to them! Also I agree that it would help you be able to talk to them, like was said before!

This sounds great.

Post 21 by andrew1989 (Account disabled) on Monday, 26-Jan-2009 10:20:54

I love the idea. I know you can do this kidn of thing on blinnation, and it would be nice to have that over here. As for the character limit, why bother? If people wanted to write lnoger comments they could just put multiple comments on the profile, sort of like boardposts. It would just take up more page space.

Post 22 by andrew1989 (Account disabled) on Monday, 26-Jan-2009 10:21:15

Ok, I cannot type on these school computers. Lol.

Post 23 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Saturday, 31-Jan-2009 0:24:07

Yeah, you know the Premium profile length thing is pointless. I think there should be an edit box right on the profile page, then a submit button. As a member viewing their own profile, you can click on the link that says say, "link 4 new comments." It not only allows you to click and view your comments, it allows you to know how many "new" ones are there.

Post 24 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Saturday, 07-Feb-2009 0:30:16

And if you reset your comments after changing your profile, you can "Link view comments history."

Post 25 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 07-Feb-2009 1:07:34

Well, I dont know if I like that in particular, but I still say we should at least have an edit box like the one on the audio profiles.
